About Us

Robert D. McCarthy is a 1967 graduate of the State University of NY. He began his insurance career with Aetna Casualty & Surety Co., serving as a Sr. Underwriter in NY and PA. He holds the professional designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He began his agency career in 1974 as a commercial and industrial insurance specialist and soon developed a reputation as an expert in insuring Railroads. In 1998 Bob formed McCarthy Rail Insurance Managers (McRAIL). McRAIL currently insures more Railroads in the Mid-Atlantic region than any other broker and has rail clients in 40 states. Bob understands the special needs of Railroads and is enthusiastic about the future of rail transportation.
